meet the tagmaker

in early spring of 2020, Devi, owner of Mad Dog Metalworks, (who also happens to be my best friend) was talking with me about how she'd like to have an apprentice, because what's the point of 10+ years of tagmaking if she's not sharing her craft with anyone? and... maybe I'd be interested? of course I agreed to her insanely generous offer. I mean, it might be nice to have a casual hobby. learn some new skills. no pressure. It's not like I'm going to start a business out of it or anything.

oops. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

turns out, hitting things with hammers is pretty cool. obsessing over fonts, planning designs, and putting all the pieces together to create unique, hand-stamped tags for my own dogs, family & friends proved to be more enjoyable than expected...

thanks to some nudging from my mentor, my own little tag shop is now a reality. I owe so much to Devi's excellent instruction for not only getting me started on the right foot, but continuing to share her knowledge and supporting me every step of the way. still learning and improving as I go, I'm excited to take this leap and see what happens!
